The Renewables Technology meet up is heading back to Glasgow for it’s ninth edition.

Doors open 17:00 at Tontine, 20 Trongate, Glasgow, G1 5ES, with plenty of food and drink provided.

There will be three short, informative, 15 minute talks from industry experts, each with their own set of experiences and ideas to share with you.

Dr David McMillan is a consultant engineer and company director of Trios Renewables Ltd

His professional focus is on offshore wind operations/ OpEx modelling. David has helped enable over 5GW of projects reach FID, including Beatrice, SeaGreen and a further 22GW of offshore wind projects at various stages of development in UK, Ireland & SE Asia. David has led and delivered £1.6m worth of commercial/ R&D projects for offshore wind developers, turbine OEMs & other supply chain partners.

He has 18 (!) years of experience in delivering commercial innovation projects for some of the worlds largest and most successful offshore wind developers.

David is also keen to discuss why he should get a dog at home.

Orla has a First class honours bachelor degree in Product Design and Technology from the University of Limerick. She has won various design awards for the design of a medical device for people living with diabetes winning the IDI Medical Device Awards in 2019 and Runner up for the National James Dyson.

Her passion lies with UX UI Design, Sustainability, Graphics & Branding Design and new technology.

Orla jumped at the chance to join Bitbloom earlier this year. An opportunity to unite her passions for design and sustainability.  

We’re looking forward to hearing her thoughts on user experience, user interfaces and how rewarding it can be when users are happy with new designs.

Innovation Manager

Sofia is passionate about driving sustainable change and revolutionizing the renewable energy landscape through innovative solutions and strategic collaborations. She is currently spearheading the innovation initiatives as an Innovation Manager at ScottishPower/Iberdrola.

With a strong background in renewable energy and AI research, Sofia thrives on leveraging cutting-edge research and fostering partnerships. Sofia’s mission is to blend creativity, data-driven insights, and cross-disciplinary collaboration to pave the way for scalable, sustainable solutions that address pressing energy challenges.

Food and drink will be provided on the evening. The catering is being provided by our hosts Bitbloom and will include options for veggie and vegan.

Also available will be wines, beers and ciders (including 0% options) to grab from the table.

WHat’s gone down previously

This will be the second time Re-Tech has come to Glasgow. We’ve been running successful meet ups in Bristol since 2022.
