Re-Tech VII
Back on home turf
After our trip north to Glasgow for Re-Tech VI, this time around we were back on home turf in Bristol for Re-Tech VII.
Re-Tech VII was on familiar territory. Our venue for the evening was the excellent Future Leap Hub on Gloucester Road and we once again had the support of the awesome team over at Apollo Engineering who sponsored the event – thank you!
While this may sound like it was same old same old, the reality could not be further from the truth. We had a lot of new faces, first timers, at this Re-Tech and the quality of the talks was once again on point as we brought three first-time Re-Tech speakers up on stage.
What went down
The crowd rolled in, the food boxes arrived and the drinks were served. We opened the doors officially at 6pm although we had a few keen beans arrive earlier. We let them in and gave them a drink (we are nice like that).
Our speakers were excellent. As a team we strive to bring new voices and new topics to the stage and we feel we really nailed the brief. We welcomed Calum Westland, Salima Haque and a double act in Will Barnes and Cameron Cooper. Between them, we covered a range of topics from hydrogen infrastructure, alternative fuels, diversity in the workplace at Heathrow through to the sticky stuff on the front of drones so they can attach themselves temporarily to a turbine blade (who knew!).
I do think I need to invest in a count down clock. Those 15 minute talks are becoming more like 20 minutes or more. Thank you to the audience for sticking with it and we’ll look to keep things more on track next time around.
WHAT NEXT?
We’re giving Re-Tech a little bit of time to recover. Our plans as they stand are to run one more Re-Tech in Bristol later this year and then head back up to Scotland in the Autumn.
Plans for Scotland are well underway but the next Bristol event is looking for a sponsor.
If you would like to be part of the gang and have your name up in lights with the best crew in the South West then please get in touch with the Re-Tech team.
