Event Report: Southampton Re-Tech meet up September 2025

 Re-Tech XI

A new destination

We chose a new destination for the 11th edition of the Re-Tech meet up. This was our first event in Southampton.

Why Southampton? Well, lot’s of reasons. We could see there is a community of passionate engineers, entrepreneurs and purpose-driven technology specialists. Not only that, but over at Make the Break, we’ve been on the train down to Southampton from Bristol pretty regularly this year, working with a number of local renewables businesses.

So, when it came to deciding where to take Re-Tech out about this year, Southampton was the clear winning choice!

The Wool House

For this edition of Re-Tech we took over the upstairs of the Wool House venue, part of the dancing man brewery. What a place! The Wool House is a 13th century warehouse right by the docks that has been beautifully renovated in a stunning bar and event space. If you’re in town, we highly recommend you go visit.

Once again, we brought some new voices to the stage. And once again, the speakers really excelled in providing insight, knowledge and more than a little bit of humour.

Now, obviously, we’re a little biased, but we genuinely stand by this conviction: you could spend a lot more ££ and not get access to the kind of speakers you do at a Ret-Tech event.

This time around we had Yvonne Zwiers from Yellow Zebras, Nick Wordsworth from Offshore Construction Associates and Rachel McCall from Collaborative Environmental Advisers. Each speaker told a personal story drawing on their own career experiences, telling tales of projects past and in Nick’s case, some hair-raising stories of questionable H&S ‘back in the day.’

The crowd arrived early, enjoyed the food and drink laid on (thanks to CEA for supporting the event) and a small number stayed until… quite late. You know who you are.

THANK YOU SOUTHAMPTON

Re-Tech XI was good fun in a new location. Thank you to the local community for turning out in force and making it such a success. What’s next for Re-Tech? Well… for the rest of 2025 we will back in our HQ of Bristol. For 2026, who know’s, we’re open to suggestions 🙂
